New York/Gaza: In an unprecedented move, the Israeli Army reportedly took control of phones in Gaza to broadcast Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speech at the United Nations.
According to reports, Israel also set up loudspeakers along the Gaza border to make sure people heard Netanyahu message. The speech came amid mounting global pressure for Israel to end the conflict in Gaza.
Netanyahu Pushes Back At UN
“Western leaders may have buckled under the pressure, but Israel won’t,” Netanyahu declared in his address.
The Israeli leader, facing accusations of war crimes, used the global stage to fiercely defend his country actions. Wearing a special hostages pin featuring a QR code linked to October 7 information, Netanyahu also displayed a regional map titled “THE CURSE.”
“Anti-Semitism dies hard. In fact, it doesn’t die at all,” he said.
Palestine Recognition & US Position
Currently, more than 150 countries recognize Palestine as a state. However, the United States continues to withhold recognition.
On Thursday, US President Donald Trump said he would not allow Israel to annex the occupied West Bank.
“I will tell our truth,” Netanyahu said. “I will condemn those leaders who, instead of condemning the murderers, rapists and burners of children, want to give them a state in the heart of Israel.”
West Bank Tensions Rise
Although Israel has not formally announced an annexation, key figures in Netanyahu government have pushed for it. Recently, officials approved a controversial settlement project that could split the West Bank in two—something critics argue would end any hope of a Palestinian state.
Netanyahu and Trump are expected to meet during his visit.
