Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday renewed his strong push for the ‘Make in India’ initiative, urging global and domestic investors to seize the “unprecedented opportunities” the country now offers. Speaking at the India Mobile Congress in New Delhi, PM Modi said this is the “best time to invest, innovate, and make in India.”

Modi emphasized that India democratic system, ease of doing business, and reform-driven governance have transformed the country into one of the most attractive investment destinations globally.

“This is the best time to invest, innovate and make in India,” PM Modi said, highlighting that the government is fast-tracking economic reforms across key sectors.

The Prime Minister pointed out that he had already announced on August 15 that 2025 would be a year of “big changes and big reforms.” Without detailing specifics, he said that the pace of these reforms is only accelerating.

Recently, the government rationalised GST rates, making common consumer products like shampoo, soaps, and television sets more affordable — a move aimed at boosting domestic consumption and supporting manufacturing growth.

Focus on Technology and Manufacturing

PM Modi highlighted India growing strength in electronics, semiconductors, and mobile manufacturing, stating that the country has become a vital hub for technology production.

“India offers immense opportunities in the manufacturing of semiconductors, mobiles, and electronics. Industry leaders, innovators, and startups must step up now,” he said.

He also pointed out that India has launched its Made in India 4G Stack, joining an elite group of just five countries globally with this indigenous technology capability.

“The country that once struggled with 2G today has 5G reaching almost every district,” Modi said, underscoring India digital transformation journey.

India Digital Revolution

PM Modi celebrated the country massive progress in digital connectivity and affordability, crediting it as a key driver of India new growth story.

“Digital connectivity in India is no longer a privilege or a luxury. It is now an integral part of every Indian life,” he said, noting that 1 GB of wireless data in India costs less than a cup of tea.

India now boasts the world second-largest telecom market and the second-largest 5G network, Modi added, while highlighting that the nation also has the fastest-growing developer population globally.

He attributed this success to the government continuous efforts in infrastructure development, skill enhancement, and policy innovation, positioning India as a digital powerhouse.

A Global Call to Innovate in India

Urging global players to view India not just as a market but as a manufacturing and innovation hub, PM Modi said that the country manpower, mobility, and mindset uniquely position it to lead the global technology revolution.

“India today has the manpower, mobility, and mindset to lead the world. This is the era of opportunity — an era where ‘Make in India’ means ‘Make for the World’,” he said.

With strong reforms, an expanding digital economy, and major strides in manufacturing, PM Modi message at the India Mobile Congress was clear — India is open for business like never before, and global investors should act now to be part of its growth story.
